The eyes of the world are on Kentucky as the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games come to the Commonwealth. The largest sporting event ever held in Kentucky, the games are known as the Olympics for horses and are being held outside of Europe for the first time ever. The Kentucky Horse Park is abuzz wiht unprecendented excitement as eight world championship events unfold in dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, jumping, para dressage, reining and vaulting.
The equestrian games are held every four years, two years prior of the Olympic Games. Sponsored by Alltech, an international feed products company based in Kentucky, the games are attracting the world's attention as tens of thousands of spectators from out-of-state and nearly 2,000 accredited journalists converge on the horse park in Lexington for 16 days of competition starting Sept. 25. NBC plans 6/5 hours of international broadcast coverage of the games as well.
Lexington, Kentucky is only one hour south of Belterra Casino Resort & Spa and Switzerland County.
