The Switzerland County has been in operation since 1915 and provides many services such as: books and material, reading programs, interlibrary loan, technology access, educational services, library programs and events, programs for youth, and outreach programs.

The library is a great source for genealogy with family files and family history books and workbooks. The local newspaper is on microfilm from 1831 through 2006. Marriage records from 1814 to 1925 are on microfilm, as well as many wills, naturalization records, miscellaneous documents, and the US Census from 1820-1920 (with the exception of 1890 which was lost in a fire).
