Oldest continually operated business on the original site in Indiana. A longstanding, family-owned hardware store with everything from “by the pound” nails, bolts, and nuts. All weighed on the same 100 year-old scale that your great Grandfather would have used. The original ledger book of founder U.P. Schenck displays commerce of the times as far back as 1892. Once you visit Danner’s Hardware, you’ll never think of hardware in the same way.
ANTIQUE AUCTION:
Danner's Hardware, Indiana oldest family owned business still in its original location, is approaching its final days with the Danner Family. Over the last 173 years the hardward store has accumulated museum quality collectables and antiques. These items will be sold at auction on Friday, July 23rd and Saturday, July 24th at 323 Ferry St. in Vevay, IN starting at 10am.
Buyers atttneding the auction can view and purchase items such as a 1915 Maytag washer, Riverboat documents, documents signed by past U.S. Presidents such as John Quincy Adams and James Monroe, one-of-a-kind marbles worth hundreds each, spinning wheel's dated back to the early 1800's, antique toys and much more.
The extensice collection at Danner's Hardware didn't happen over night. Mike Danner has owned the business for 50 years and explains that there are hundreds of valuables in the old store from generations past.
"When I took over the family business, I knew there were antiques in the attic in the basement of the store," said Danner. "As I began to go through everything I realized that not only was I sorting through nearly 200 years of history but most of these antiques were extremely valuable."
